TIP: HOW LIFTERS SHOULD READ LAB RESULTS  If you have had, or are planning on having your blood sent off to a lab for analysis this article is a must read.  I had my blood work done in December for no reason other than I do not make doctor visits a part of my regular routine and I wanted to see what my blood would reveal.  What the other of the article described is exactly what happened to me: The doctor and nurse practitioner, while very nice and competent, were not accustomed to treating healthy, physically fit patients.  My blood work was excellent except for one of my levels was elevated.  When I did my own research I discovered that when endurance athletes and CrossFitters have their blood analyzed it is not uncommon for their Creatine kinase levels to be elevated.

The take-home lesson is if you are going to have your blood analyzed make every effort to find a doctor who understands the training that you do and can interpret the results correctly.  Furthermore, educate yourself as much as possible regarding the blood work tests and what the readings actually indicate.–George
