TIPS FOR SUCCESSFUL HILL RUNNING

We suggest you hit a trail, preferably a trail with a substantial incline, before you do the Spartan Super next month.  The difference in endurance requirement compared to running a flat, relatively smooth surface will surprise you.  Running down-hill requires a slightly different stride.  Check out the article and be prepared!–George

George I love the article on Lebron James. It referenced Jeff Volek and if anybody is interested in nerding out on the science behind and the potential benefits of nutritional ketosis, he has some great videos on you tube. It will interesting to see how Lebron does since it is unclear if optimum health and optimum performance go hand in hand. I suspect it will

    Thanks for the tip Al!

True regarding the optimum health/optimum performance issue. When you’re that talented the performance edge you might gain is probably negligible, but the long term health benefit is probably great. I’ve spoken with some top level crossfitters who “eat well, but don’t Paleo”. Of course there are so many variables that it would be difficult to “prove” the diet made the difference in performance. If an athlete perceived they were doing better because of an improved diet that would be a good enough reason to follow the diet.
