CROSSFIT SUFFOLK: Powered By SPARTAN PERFORMANCE

Jeremy Puglia has his debut PROFESSIONAL Mixed Martial Arts fight tomorrow night in Rhode Island and we had the honor of providing his Strength and Conditioning training! 

When I watch Jeremy train I’m reminded of the famous Bobby Knight quote: “The key is not the will to win… everybody has that. It is the will to prepare to win that is important.”  Jeremy is one of the hardest working athletes we’ve had the pleasure of training.  He is the embodiment of the qualities you want to see in an athlete, especially an athlete from a combat sport.  Jeremy is a gentleman outside the ring, soft-spoken and humble.  Inside the ring, he is a fierce fighter with “killer instinct”.  Jeremy has outstanding coaches to develop and support his “game” (kickboxing, wrestling, and Brazilian Jiu-jitsu).  It’s our job to make sure he is strong, powerful, fast, explosive and can endure the “distance” of the fight.  Being exhausted is unacceptable.  If exhaustion sets in we have failed in our mission.  Failure is not an option for us.   Jeremy will be the sum of his top-shelf skill training, superior strength and conditioning as well as the ferocity, determination and drive that all champions possess but cannot be taught.

On Saturday, June 23rd there are two events of interest:  The Lt. Michael Murphy Run-Around-The-Lake, a 4-mile run (or walk) around Lake Ronkonkoma and the Travis Mash “Learn To Lift” seminar in Brooklyn.

The Run-Around-The-Lake is a long time tradition for CrossFit Suffolk and the “Learn To Lift” seminar has been attended by CrossFit Suffolk athletes previously where it received rave reviews.  We have athletes signed up for both events.  If you’re interested register as soon as possible.  What questions do you have?

For the first time ever the Spartan Race is coming to Long Island!  November 17th there is a Spartan Sprint (3+ miles, 20-23 obstacles).  In previous years we have competed in Spartan Sprints, a Spartan Super (8+ miles) and two Spartan Beasts (12+ miles on Killington in Vermont).  These obstacle races are challenging and fun.  Now you don’t have to drive very far to see what the Spartan Race is all about!   WE HAVE TO SIGN UP SOON…APPARENTLY SPOTS ARE GOING FAST!
