Blood And Chalk Vol. 9: Jim Wendler Talks Big Weights  Jim Wendler offers pearls of wisdom in this series–which we have re-posted as each volume becomes available.

Is Eating Too Much Protein Going To Harm My Kidneys?  "Other people will need more protein. Highly active athletes, Crossfitters, powerlifters, folks trying to gain mass and strength, folks trying to lose a bunch of weight – they all can benefit from an increased protein intake, either by increasing satiety (thus improving diet adherence) or providing amino acids for muscle recovery and repair. One gram or protein per pound of lean body mass is a good average number to shoot for over a range of a few days."—Mark Sisson, mark's Daily Apple

Excellent timing on the above article–one of our athletes was just told that the Paleo Diet forced one to eat a harmful amount of protein.  This is one of my favorite myths.  When confronted with this one I feign interest and ask, "Oh, how much protein is too much?"  I either get an uninformed answer that can be interpreted in several ways or a nonsensical answer.  Then comes the follow up question:  Can you name ANYONE, a friend, a relative, a guest on Oprah, ANYONE who has consumed too much protein and suffered kidney damage?

Didn't think so!
