Today is the 15th of April.  This could only mean one thing and it has nothing to do with taxes.  It means it's the end of the 30 Day Paleo Challenge.  This of course doesn't mean it's the end of eating optimally.  Hopefully the experience was a good one.  It was for us!  We encourage all to not make this the end of a journey, but to keep finding what works best for you.  It's important to continue to monitor how what you eat is affecting you.  We will continue to share the information that we believe is helpful and interesting.

We want your feedback regarding the Challenge.  What affect it had on you, both good and not so good?  What worked and what didn't seem to make much of a difference?  Was your strength and endurance affected?  Feel free to share comments, complaints, editorials and recipes.  Especially recipes!

Use the Comment tab at the bottom of the post.

Train Like A Man, Part 2   "Here's the Big T gym rules for getting back your manhood. These shouldn't be too hard to implement; that is, unless the only time you squat is to pee."-Martin Rooney for TNation.com

A Critique Of The ISSN Position Stand On Meal Frequency   "Is John Berardi – who, aside from making numerous scientifically unsound claims, has been one of the strongest proponents of high-meal frequency eating – unbiased enough to be allowed to participate in this publication? Berardi considers HMB a worthwhile supplement for athletes and wholeheartedly recommends it on his site. For those of you who don't know, HMB is damn near worthless. Buying it is as close to throwing your money away as you can possibly get (just like Glutamine – which Berardi also recommends). What does this say about his credibility as a scientist?"Martin Berkhan, Leangains.com

I am not sure if Paleo, CrossFit or just the unbelievable combination of the 2 are what helped me get my life back. I have never been more in shape, healthy, confident and just overall happier than I am now. I have been doing CrossFit for just about 3 months and Paleo for about 2 and a half. The results are dramatic. 12 pounds lost (without starving) and a total transformation of my body.
The Paleo Diet was originaly just another “diet” that we read about and decided to try. We read the book and listened to Rob Wolf talk about how we just need to give it a try. Why not…..nothing else had worked for me yet. The book, although confusing and difficult to follow at times presented a 30 day meal plan almost impossible NOT to follow.
We shopped. Bought what they suggested, developed favorite recipes, made changes to recipes (within Paloe guidelines) to make some recipes tastier and the first week went by. There went 6 pounds! That had never happened to me before. I don’t really have that much weight to lose so I was suprised. Especially since I never went hungry and really enjoyed the meals we ate.
Not only did I lose the weight, but I felt better, slept better, felt closer to my boyfriend and felt proud. We sat down and planned the week in advance…shopped…cooked….and then prepared everything for the week. The only thing wrong was that we had to go and get more plastic containers to bring to work for lunches and breakfast.
We are still on the Paleo diet. We have had a few cheat days and to be perfectly honest…they really felt like a waste. I didn’t need to eat those things although in my head I thought I was missing it. I wasn’t. I may have programed myself to believe that I was missing it or even needed it but I didn’t. Now I find it easy to say no to my previous weeknesses although I think about them from time to time. Just another habit I need to get rid of.
I can’t see myself going back. I wish there were words to describe how amazing I feel both physicaly and emotionaly. I do not go around preaching my new diet to anyone but if they ask I can hear the passion in my own voice when explaining the do’s and don’ts. Many people think it is too hard and that the need certain staples in their life. Well THEY DONT. I DONT. I want to live and when living I want to be healthy.
How often do we hear of “Joy” or “Ken” the healthiest, most in shape people around getting diagnosed with cancer. How is that possible? Well I am not a doctor but what I can tell you is that if there is a chance that by taking out these processed and fake foods out of my diet I will never need to go through radiation treatments then that is what I am going to do. No matter how “hard” it seems.
I could go on forever about this and I am sure some…well probably many people think I am nuts. Its my life that I am taking care of and I am happy that I can have this life with my boyfriend.
I would love to share a GIANT THANK YOU TO GEOGE AND LISA. Without you guys I wouldn’t have had my eyes opened they way they are now. I would still be stuck in my daily routine, stuffing my face with crap and feeling fat, unhealthy and overall inadequate in life. Now I feel like I am a new person, new life, new attitude, new body, new friends, new muscles (lol), new confidence, new passions and new love.
PS If you just want to eat Paleo and not CrossFit for whatever reason…..a man that we know started eating Paleo…hasnt’ started working out at all yet and has lost 30 pounds in about 5 weeks. With those results isn’t it worth a shot. You’ve got nothing to lose!!!
