This week is National Police Week and today is National Peace Officers Memorial Day.

Today's workout is dedicated to the memory of all law enforcement officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice.  "Randy" is named after LAPD SWAT Officer, Randy Simmons, who was killed in the line of duty, February 2008.

75 pound Power snatch, 75 reps for time.

Officers Work Was A Calling
"Grant said Simmons was a physically imposing officer — "an Adonis" —
known for his superb physical fitness, for connecting with people and
for maintaining his calm. Size alone was not the reason he had so few
confrontations on the job. "We just talked to people. We had them
laughing on the way to jail," Grant said. "He was really able to
communicate with people — able to extract information from unwilling
people. He made them comfortable, and put humanity into it."

"When he encountered resistance, he appealed to people's sense of right
and wrong, Grant said. Only the most pathological suspects did not
respond, he said.
"—Jill Leovy and Andrew Blankstein, LA Times, 2/8/08

"This film is dedicated to the men and women of the law enforcement
community who face danger daily on our behalf. It is especially
dedicated to our fallen heroes who have made the ultimate sacrifice in
the line of duty. This is for all that fight evil so we may not know it.
God bless you all."

Lisa and I had the opportunity to view a law enforcement documentary, Heroes Behind The Badge, during a special presentation at the Cradle Of Aviation of Museum's Sky Theater in Garden City. Heroes Behind the Badge is an outstanding documentary that gives an insiders view of the danger that police officers face.  For non-law enforcement people the documentary will offer a side of police work rarely seen and for police officers the documentary will make you proud to be a part of this noble profession.

Heroes Behind The Badge is now available on DVD.  We recommend checking it out.
