CROSSFIT SUFFOLK: Powered By SPARTAN PERFORMANCE

If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.” – John Quincy Adams

Perhaps you saw this on the CF Whiteboard Notes from September 30th, but if not Kelly R. had this to say:

Last day of month, my official last day at gym. Wod 645! 645x Lisa & George put up w me. I have learned something from every single one of you guys in the gym!! i am really just left without words. The best words to sum it all up is: Thank you!!! Thank you ALL! For every thing!!”

For those of you who have been around a while you know Kelly has been one of the more influential athletes in the gym.  Kelly inspired many of the other athletes to do extra work after regular sessions such as sled pulls, Tire Flipping and Farmer’s Walk.  The now famous Kelly Walk was started by Kelly and many others have at least tried it.  The Kelly Walk is putting the backpack on and walking a mile.  One day, while on the Kelly Walk, Kelly placed the backpack on the ground near the half mile mark and helped a man push his stalled car into a gas station.  The man shook her hand, Kelly put the backpack on an finished her walk.  That’s Kelly.

Before a competition last year Kelly discovered that one of our athletes wasn’t able to come up with the competition entry fee.  Kelly rounded up some of our athletes and they all chipped in to pay for the other athlete.  That’s Kelly.

During our Holiday parties it was Kelly who organized the giving of gifts to the coaches.  She did the same for other athletes or coaches during birthdays and other occasions.  That’s Kelly.

Kelly R. joined CrossFit Suffolk/Spartan Performance in June 2013 and as she stated, did 645 workouts with us in a little over 2 years.  Kelly improved tremendously as an athlete, but she also inspired many others.  So to Kelly we say Thank You for being an instrumental part of our community and good luck on your journey to be strong!

Kelly ( or recently known as Jelly) you have inspired and pushed me since I walked into the gym 2 yrs ago…. I wouldn’t be able to do the things I can today without you always telling me I could… Many fun times, so sad that you have left us but I wish you the best and know you will keep acomplishing everything you set out to do…. Don’t be a stranger and don’t forget you promised to do the masters with me in 2 yrs when you are 40… Will hold you too it if this old master isn’t too injured… Miss you already

Kelly you inspire so many all the time, in many areas of life. You are a one of a kind person. Blessed are we who have been fortunate enough to have you enter our lives.

Kelly was, is and always will be amazing. Her heart exceeds expectations every time. An inspiration everytime she walked in with that smile on her face. I didn’t see her often but when I did she brightened up the gym and when she did her extra work it always made me sure that I should be doing extra work too. I will sorely miss her coming into the gym, but knowing she’s still doing good work, getting stronger, makes me sure that I should be as well. Love you Kelly, keep up the good work!

I remember the first day Kelly came into the gym, on a Sunday. She was asking so many questions and was so excited. Her eyes were lit up with excitement. I remember her asking me specifically “when do I get to lift heavy?”. From that point on, I knew she was going to be a great addition to our Crossfit family. She brought such a wonderful and positive energy to the gym. She never complained and never had anything bad to say, about anything. In these last 2 years it was a pleasure to watch her succeed in almost anything she put her heart in. I personally, will miss her dearly. She has a heart of gold, a spirit like very few and she inspires so many. Wherever she goes, they will be lucky to have her.

The best advice I was given was by Lisa, she says this often, to “stay the course ” and I did – 645x!! And I’m still going. I’m not really saying goodbye to you guys, maybe just see you later ( or next week when I drop in )
With family commitments, scheduling, volunteering, and the commute to gym I just can’t make it work right now. It definitely makes me sad but sometimes life gets in the way of where we would like to be.
( or where we would like to workout )

Spending the last 2 yrs with all of you has been AWESOME! I have learned something from everyone. You all have no idea how inspiring you are to me! Or the difference you have made in my life and as a person.

When I walked into Crossfit suffolk the 1st time I was petrified and just expected to workout. Well I definitely worked out, definitely got stronger, but the lessons learned along the way have been priceless.

So take Kelly Walks- they are good for your body and soul!
Ask lots of questions, to George and Lisa and each other!
I stress talking to each other, the people in our gym are hidden gems with tons of knowledge!
Use the whiteboard! Track your results!
Compete against you ( do better today then yesterday )
Take 5-10 mins and work on a skill! Hang from the bar, use the fat grips, atlas stones, rope drills, play the fish game on the rower!

It’s a journey not a race! Be patient! My time in the gym is about leaving everything else at the door and learning. Picking up more weight, moving faster, getting stronger. Nobody cares what you look like, what you fail at, what you can’t do, JUST Walk in the door and get it done!

I could go on and on……..

Thank you! Thank for ALL of it! Thank you for everything!

PS- Cindy I am absolutely competing with you when I turn 40 and this year I will definitely be there to cheer you all on!

Kelly you are awesome and will be missed! You were the final straw that made me do the masters you told me just go for it!! Thank you. PS so that’s what you look like under all the hoodies, sweat pants and hats!! Woo Hoo sexy mama!!!

Kelly….I remember the first few days you started and were doing burpees…those damn burpees; you went from trying to get through them to going through the 100 day burpee challenge. Your such a strong woman with determination to meet your goals. You were so great during the crossfit open in pushing me to use a higher weight and you were right. It was awesome!! You are a force to be reckoned with from walking with the 65 lb backpack to pushing trucks for fun. I’m going to miss you..I hope you drop in once in awhile. Be well and know you had a huge impact on so many of us. Masters is not that far down the road and I expect you to be there!! Love ya
