The Civilian Military Combine (CMC) is being held in Brooklyn, again, on September 27th.  The CMC combines a 5K obstacle run with CrossFit-like workouts.  For more info or to register click HERE

CHECK THIS OUT—There’s a Powerlifting-like competition called the October IronFest and it’s being held locally at CrossFit Gantry in Long Island City.  The October IronFest is not like a regular Powerlifting event, it’s a Starting Strength event.  What that means to you is the 3 competitive lifts will be the Squat, Press and Deadlift as opposed to the Squat, Bench Press and Deadlift.  Much like the CrossFit Total.  There are 8 gyms participating in this event, but CrossFit Gantry is the only host gym in the Northeast.  The other participating gyms are from Canada, Texas, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina and California.  For those interested in competing in a strength-only competition this looks like a good way to go!  Oh, and you DO NOT have to wear a singlet like ordinary Powerlifting competitions.  How awesome is that??  I wouldn’t delay on this one…we have no other competitions like this in our area and the entry fee is reasonable!  Click HERE for further details.

Switch hands as often as you’d like.
Do not put the kettlebell down during the 3 minutes.

    Haha.. Love the Wonder Woman pic!! Love the article about being fit for life.. Being able to squat over porta-potties is def a Great reason for people to be in shape!!! Lol

    Jen,
    You have to feel bad for the masses without squatting ability……not being able to hover…..not being able to get off the potty section of the Porta-potty if hovering just isn’t an option. The horror! I’m surprised this issue isn’t discussed more .
