Upcoming Diet/Nutrition Challenge Concern #1:   “I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO COOK”

The announcement of a “Whole30 Program” or “Paleo Challenge” always stirs up the same questions and concerns.  The first one is, “I don’t know how to cook for this”.

Really people?

We live in what is commonly known as the “Information Age” on account of all the information we have easy access to.  We don’t need to kill and grill our food, although this is still a good idea.  Now we can buy animals killed and cleaned by someone else and cook in our own kitchen.  We can also buy fruit and vegetables picked and cleaned by someone else.  If you have a kitchen with all the modern conveniences you can cook and prepare food at home.  For recipes you can open a search engine on your Ipad or Smart Phone, enter the words “Paleo recipes” and SHAZAAM–you’ll get more recipes than you know what to do with.  If you want something quick to make try the words “fast Paleo meals” or “quick Paleo recipes“.

It’s like magic.

And it’s easy.  In fact it’s so easy Paleolithic Man can do it.  (See what I did there?)  Just a few years back my cooking skills consisted of toast, French Toast and Peanut butter and Jelly sandwiches (with or without the crusts cut off).  Now I’m cooking meals that have gone far beyond making bread hot.  I am requested at A-List parties and I’m often flown to Europe to cook for the cultural elite.

OK.  I have no idea what an A-List party is and I haven’t been to Europe since 1988.  I wouldn’t know the cultural elite if they knocked me down in the street.  My point is that I can throw a meal together that is not only healthy, but enjoyable to eat.  I made lamb chops last night.  Placed a bit of olive in a small pan, added chopped onions and garlic, mixed in some salt, pepper and rosemary, let it simmer on the stove, brushed the chops with the olive oil concoction, seared the chops in a cast iron skillet–a minute on each side, placed the chops in the oven (pre-heated to 400 degrees) and cooked them for 12 minutes.  Served it up with cut green beans and BOOM..

……A MEAL OF PURE AWESOMENESS.

My mouth actually watered from describing this recipe.  Delicious and nutritious.

Want to know where I got the recipe from?

I had the audacity to combine two lamb chop recipes I found on the….wait for it……….wait for it………….INTERNET.

Folks, one of the most important keys to success with your diet is preparation.  The better prepared you are, the more detailed planning that goes into what you’ll eat the more likely you will eat well and have success.
