THROWBACK THURSDAY:  RYAN

Unfortunately for us, but good for our country, Ryan will be leaving us next month to serve in the United States Air Force.  Besides being one of the hardest workers we ever trained, Ryan has helped us out on so many occasions whether it was assisting new athletes or hanging around to help me clean the gym.  To say Ryan will be missed is an understatement.–George

EATING CLEAN VS. ORTHOREXIA

I’ve been dealing with orthorexics as long as I’ve been wrapping my calloused hands around barbells. Every decade, new versions of these neurotic eaters emerge out of the under-armour ether like some sort of dietarily-restricted cicadas, so let’s take a look at their evolution, or maybe more accurately, their devolution over the last thirty or so years to see if there’s any logic to the foods they’ve chosen to avoid and see if we can come up with some logical, non-neurotic guidelines to healthy or clean eating that we can all abide by.“—TC Luoma, TNation.com

SKIPPING BREAKFAST:  WILL IT REALLY MAKE YOU FAT?

Well, generally, scientists are just as prone to error as anybody else! We see it time and time again. Small biases, and tiny language differences, cause a whisper-down-the-lane effect. And “truths” are accepted that were never true in the first place.“—Helen Kollias for Precision Nutrition

Hey….he’s not leaving to May. You guys are making me sad before I need to be sad. Ryan will be around for at least another month.

Sorry George, but what if we don’t see him before he departs?

Good articles! I’m admittedly a recovering orthorexic. I’m not sure how well it’s going though… I’m working on it. Also, love Precision Nutrition – good stuff.

No worries Jade! We’ll make sure anyone who’d like to see Ryan before he leaves will have the opportunity to do so. We’ll force him to stay at the gym all day and all night one day.

I have the antidote to orthorexia if you need it: 3 chocolate chip cookies, a quarter pound of Twizzlers (red or black), Cold Stone’s Peanut Butter Cup Perfection and pizza washed down with a frosty Guiness! Consume this on a day when you’re not working out. Engage in some mindless activity and dismiss any thought of feeling bad or guilty. Do this once a week for a month and you’ll be cured.

    Precision Nutrition is awesome!
