NYFC-THE FIGHT TO REOPEN GYMS AND STUDIOS IN NEW YORK This is the link for the GoFundMe page to raise funds to cover the legal fees necessary in filing for the right to reopen. Any contribution is greatly appreciated. The following is from a fellow CrossFit-owner who initiated the action:
I’m Charlie Cassara and I own two small gyms on Long Island. After the Fitness Industry was removed from Phase 4 in NY, with no indication of when we can reopen, I started joining forces with others in the industry. We have grown in the thousands via our Facebook group and are now the NYFC –New York Fitness Coalition – and we need your help in our fight to reopen.
We believe strongly in Fitness as medicine and with our Governor categorizing such a broad range of facilities as “gyms” we are asking only for the same opportunity that every other industry was given, to prove we can open safely. Sanitization, precautions, and social distance measures will be unique to each facility but we are united in our confidence to keep members safe in our facilities while combating the comorbidities of COVID, elevating mental health, and overall wellbeing.
Our goal is set to cover the legal fees necessary in filling for the right to reopen. On behalf of all NYS facilities, we thank you for contributing to saving our businesses so that we can continue to do our job, changing lives for the better. Anything beyond that goal is greatly appreciated and will be used to further the NYFC’s cause with missions such the fight for retribution to those devastated by closure and an “essential business” classification moving forward.
