CROSSFIT SUFFOLK: Powered By SPARTAN PERFORMANCE

One of the reasons Lisa chose the name Spartan Performance was because of the definition of “spartan” used as an adjective (according to Merriam-Webster):
(1) marked by strict self-discipline or self-denial, (2) marked by simplicity, frugality, or avoidance of luxury and comfort and (3) undaunted by pain or danger.

This is John M.’s “spartan” gym.

YEAH JOHN!

IN THE TIME OF CARONAVIRUS

I mentioned using ZOOM, yesterday, which I’m willing to set-up and won’t cost you anything. ZOOM is an internet meeting app where we could talk to each other and see each other, in real-time, through our electronic devices. It’s NOT a spying device. You can shut off when you’re done and the basic plan limits you to 40 minutes at a time anyway. Two people said they were interested. I have not heard from anybody else. I figured it would be a good way to stay motivated and have accountability. If not enough people are interested then we won’t do it. Simple. Let me know.

We’ll be looking for and taking suggestions on outdoor locations where we can train that are relatively easy for CF Suffolk athletes to get to and where we won’t be breaking county laws or ordinances and won’t be a nuisance to others.

Back in 2008 or 2009 a few of us were asked to leave the Happauge High School track, on a Saturday afternoon at 4 pm, when there was not a single person using the track. We had used the track many times before this incident, but haven’t used it since. The school security officer “threw us out” because we were carrying a squat rack and barbell to the training area of the track. Again, we had done this many times before.

Why Happauge High school?

For the same reason I would try going back now: There is a hill on one side of the track. It’s a great place to do running based workouts with kettlebells or bodyweight and get in some short hill sprints. Hill sprinting is awesome!

Lisa and I spent a few hours in the gym today. It wasn’t the same without you. We made the best of it, but it definitely wasn’t the same. I still did all bodyweight workouts. I did a few kettlebell windmills during my warm-up but everything else was bodyweight only. I miss you all.

I don’t know this dude but he has the shortest Circle Crunch video on YouTube and he does it correctly!
Tony Gentilcore is a Dead Bug master. Keep the tension in our stomach while you move in a controlled, deliberate way. Yes, Tony starts a little differently but it’s the same exact technique.

I’d be interested in using zoom!! I’ve been reading your posts George and everyone’s comments every day just haven’t commented but I like to see what everyone says 🙂 I’m not having that much trouble staying motivated to work out I’m just so bored and lonely!!! I will usually do a dance class workout each day since 2 of the studios are doing live classes each day and I’ll do the body weight work out and go for a bike ride or a walk. I’m just trying to keep myself busy. Nobody at my house ever wants to workout with me 🙁 they usually just sit on the couch and watch or complain that I took the cars off of the driveway. ??‍♀️ My grad school has said we’ll be having classes online for the rest of the semester but I haven’t heard from any of my professors since our last class meeting.. I wonder if that means I’ll just get an A in my classes by default!

Would we be able to go somewhere like heckscher or the holtsville ecology center? I’m not sure if they’re closed or not… Seneca Middle school has a track and a field next to it.. I’ve been there to workout but I’m not sure if they would allow a group to be there?

Dorchester Park in Ronkonkoma, it’s near Sachem North. They have, or at least you to have “stations” set up around a running course.
