SPINE STABILIZATION: HOW YOUR CORE SHOULD BE WORKING

One of the more common complaints you hear from female athletes revolves around having a bit of difficulty holding their “water” during exercise (especially during impact activities like double unders). You may also see other athletes struggle to keep neutral posture during a movement such as the deadlift, snatch, or clean. Both of these problems have the same root source.”–Jason Burtchell for Breaking Muscle

SEE IT HAPPEN TO MAKE IT HAPPEN: HOW VISUALIZATION MAKES ATHLETES MORE SUCCESSFUL

When athletes used imagery during their rest intervals they consistently reduced their sprint times. Out of the sixteen sprinters, fourteen reduced their sprint times using imagery.”—Jeff Barnett for Breaking Muscle

[Note: The above finding is nothing new.  Visualization has been used by athletes for quite some time.  There is another technique along the same lines as visualization called Guided Imagery.  The “guided” part is done by someone trained in Guided Imagery.  The person undergoing the Guided Imagery uses their powerful imagination to create a perfect mental scenario of what they would like to perform.  All the senses are included and the Guided Imagery becomes the “blueprint” for how the subconscious mind will perform during the real thing.  For a more in depth explanation check out WHAT IS GUIDED IMAGERY?

Some professional athletes have stated they use visualization or Guided Imagery, but not many.  It is our belief that at the highest levels of sports Guided Imagery is used more often than we hear about.  Let’s face it, if you have something that enhances your game, separating you from the others enough to gain an edge, would you tell all the other competitors about it?  Just a thought!

Guided Imagery isn’t just for athletics.  It could be used for virtually any sort of activity.]—George
