CROSSFIT SUFFOLK: Powered By SPARTAN PERFORMANCE

Jay N.

THE END OF THE 6 WEEK TRANSFORMATION CHALLENGE

I’ll be honest.  I never wanted to do the Transformation Challenge.  It’s not that I didn’t want to do it.  I didn’t want to take on the task of running the gym through it.  My past experience with such undertakings was not very productive.  The majority of the participants had dropped out relatively quickly and it didn’t seem worth it.  Previous to the Transformation Challenge we enjoyed helping our athletes with nutritional guidance on a one-on-one basis, but we didn’t think the Challenge would be as successful as it was.  We did learn that those past attempts at having a nutrition challenge were actually a good education for this one.  No matter what happened with past challenges every event was a learning experience.

I’m so glad we did the 6 Week Transformation Challenge and the success we enjoyed as a group is going to have a ripple effect for a long time to come.  I say this as I watch the participants improve in their performance and improve their physique right before my eyes.  I have seen it in my own body and felt it in my own performance.

We are not done testing yet, but the body fat scans have been remarkable.  We will speak about them more when everyone has gotten theirs done.  We have front runner men and women, but don’t want to give much detail until the whole group has been tested.  We still have to repeat the workouts we designated to to test performance.  We are excited to do this.

This Challenge has been very rewarding and eye-opening.  We have all developed healthy habits that many of us do not want to give up on.  We have discovered the impact of our food choices and we have sharpened our ability to be disciplined whether it was by making good choices or having to prepare our food days in advance.  This discipline carries over into other facets of life.  If your reading this and you were not one of the disciplined ones that’s alright too.  You learned from the experience and perhaps it motivated you for a future challenge.  You didn’t walk away “empty-handed”.  You left the Challenge with some more perspective.

Know that I am proud of each and everyone one of you.  For a coach there’s is nothing as rewarding as seeing your athletes improve and develop.  Nothing.

Like training, dedicating yourself to a healthy eating style has more benefits beyond the obvious.  It’s the process that is important.  It’s the process that carries over into other parts of your life.  Training and engaging in challenges, whether it’s the Transformation Challenge or the Open, helps you discover who you are.  That, my friends, is a great reward all by itself.

If you haven’t had your body fat scanned yet please see me as soon as possible so we can announce the winners of the Challenge.  If anyone is interested in beginning the Challenge please let us know.  We’d also like to discuss “Phase 2”.  Phase 2 won’t be a “challenge” as much as it will be nutritional guidance beyond the first 6 weeks.  We’d like to share what others are doing to continue the success and how we may experiment with what we have accomplished and what we have learned.  There is a private Facebook page for those in the Challenge.  The FB page is for support, ideas, recipes, tips, etc.  We will keep this going and use it to further the education of the original group and for future Transformation challengers.—George

I too came into this challenge a skeptic. I didn’t think it would work, didn’t think it would be worth it. Man, was I wrong. I will be continuing the diet. It’s fun to see how far I can take these transformations and benefits. I also feel like this diet also gave me more willpower and control over cravings, knowing I had another meal right around the corner ready to eat. Thank you George and thank you all of the challengers!

I have never dieted ever in my life and was very iffy about this diet. But all I can say is WOW, I am so happy with not just mine but everyone’s results. I wouldn’t see some of you in a week, and wow how just one week of zoning has changed a person is incredible to me not to mention six weeks. I am so happy we all did this challenge together, it was great to have support from every single one of you, I can honestly say I will keep zoning, I am happy with all my results physical and mental, I feel just so much better all around! Thank you George for making this diet a lifestyle! Congagulatuons to every one who did it, you all look amazing!

Congratulations to everyone who participated in this challenge. As Juana stated, the changes are so visible in everyone. George, thank you for offering us this opportunity (and thanks for dealing with my OCDs). It is definitely an eye opener as to how eating healthy really does affect you in a positive manner, it is not all hype lol. Personally, I feel more energized and my sleep is drastically improved. My favorite part though was the support displayed by everyone whether they were participating or not. I look forward to continuing on the zone and going into phase two. Time to gain muscle!
