“The only workout that strikes fear into my soul is Fran”.

-Andy Petranak, Petranak Fitness in the May 2008 issue of Muscle and Fitness magazine, from the article, Sweat Storm by Eric Velasquez

I love that Petranak quote because it echoes my sentiments exactly.   I’m glad it was uttered to the public by a man of Andy Petranak’s stature.  If top trainer and former Marine,  Andy Petranak can admit to feeling fear in his soul then I can feel better about myself.  Before reading the Muscle and Fitness article I would never tell anyone about my and Fran’s secret…..that I was horrified.

Fran is the workout that wakes me in the middle of the night.  Sometimes I’ll sit straight up in bed, from a dead sleep, and wonder, “Was it a nightmare or is Fran the WOD tomorrow?”

Once, as I was about to begin Fran, my knees buckled from the anticipated stress of performing.  It was as if I was about to enter a life and death fight.  The Olympic bar totaling 95 lbs. and the pull up bar are enemies that must be vanquished, but no, that isn’t completely correct.  No, the real enemy is that damn stopwatch.  It lays there coldly ticking away not caring about anything,  reminding me that I have to keep going and I have to do better than last time.

Joe…CrossFit Suffolk’s athlete with the best Fran time…..Get Some!

Haha nice comment on Fran George. I winced when I saw the site today, literally. Let’s see how my Fran will be tomorrow with chest to bar pull-ups. I’m going to say an adventure…

He is the best as of right now, Id say give me a two months or so, and I will at least match his time…hahahahaha.(That was a joke!!) That is a good idea Joe, although Im going to wait until I can get a sub 3 minute Fran before I worry about doing the chest to bar pull-ups. Got to start with the basics!!!!
