Really? The Claim: For Better Muscle Tone, Go Lighter And Repeat "the notion is not supported by science. Producing bulky muscles requires not just heavy weights but heavy calorie consumption as well, typically far above the 2,000 daily calories recommended for many adults".

We appreciate this study.  We appreciate because we now have something to reference when a woman tells us that she can't lift weights because "my muscles get too HUGE".

Oh..right!

We usually ask them what the secret is so we can market it to the bodybuilding community.  They swear the mere act of lifting a weight once will produce disgustingly large arms.  That's why they can only do CAR-DEE-OH…ya know…walk on the treadmill or eliptici on the eliptical.

According to this article,"In another study published last year, scientists followed 122 women for six years. They found that those who were assigned to do resistance exercises three times a week — sets of 8 reps at 70 to 80 percent of their ability — lost the most weight and body fat".

Imagine that?

I’m a fan, but don’t actively pursue the activities though I see great value in being able to scale walls and jump over moving cars!
Patrick, however, has fully undertaken the parkour/free-running lifestyle and is getting pretty good at it. Patrick was able to somersault even before he CrossFitted, and he can hand balance a nd press his body in a variety of ways…it’s awesome to watch!

    I suspected it was Patric
I do a bit of Parkour myself. I’m no elite traceur but, as you said, there is great value in learning the basics… just another dimension in which we can use our training, I suppose
I am actually looking into a way to incorporate some vaults, precision jumps, etc into my CF WODS, as an addition to monostructural movements (running, jumprope, etc)… it’s just a way to have a more agility biased CF, I suppose
